Certified anti-laceration by ISO 13997, they are as minimalist as they are comfortable. Because there's no compromise between safety and style, our equipment is discreet and elegant.
ISO 13997 standardizes material protection levels in the face of laceration. It therefore determines resistance to cutting by sharp-edged objects.
This standard does not, however, determine resistance to penetration by sharp objects, which is calculated by the HOSDB standard. The resistance of Semper Invicta materials has been tested using the Tomodynamometer (TDM) cutting test method. This tool imitates a laceration on the material by applying the cutting edge of a razor blade with a constant contact force over a distance of 20mm.
The sample is subjected to a progressive pressure starting at 2 Newtons and increasing with each new displacement of the blade. The aim is to determine the minimum weight required to cut the sample with a single displacement at constant force.
Some of the Semper Invicta inserts are STAB certified, which is the standard governed by the NIJ (National Institute of Justice). This means that they are resistant to dagger puncture, not to be confused with laceration measured by ISO 13997.
In this test, our samples are tested in the laboratory at energy levels E1 and E2, i.e. with the perforation energies of 24 and 36 joules respectively.
All Semper Invicta bulletproof products are NIJ-certified (USA National Institute of Justice), the most widely used ballistic protection standard in the world.
Our ballistic partner supplies us with laboratory-tested inserts that protect against certain types of bullet. Protection levels range from NIJ II to NIJ IV.
